On November 14, 1992, in a snowy showdown in Notre Dame stadium dubbed "the Snow Bowl" #8 Notre Dame faced #21 Penn State. With 20 seconds remaining in the game, Notre Dame scores its only touchdown of the game and Lou Holtz decides to go for 2, drawing up a play on the spot. Quarterback Rick Mirer scrambled and found Reggie Brooks in the back of the end zone for the game-winning conversion. Notre Dame wins 17-16.

Notre Dame Stadium, South Bend, IN
#4 Notre Dame faced #1 Miami in South Bend on Oct 15, 1988 in a game dubbed "Catholics vs. Convicts". With 45 seconds remaining in the game, Miami scored a touchdown to bring the score 31-30. Instead of kicking the extra point to tie the game, Miami coach Jimmy Johnson went for the 2 point conversion and the win. Pat Terrell knocked down Miami quarterback Steve Walsh's throw to snap Miami's winning streak and win the game 31-30.

Notre Dame Stadium, South Bend, IN
#8 Notre Dame faced #12 Michigan in South Bend. With 41 seconds remaining, Notre Dame denied Michigan's 2 point conversion setting up one last drive. Harry Oliver kicked a 51 yard field goal, just clearing the North goal post as time expired to win the game 29-27.

1971 Regular Season
The Genuflect Play
2 Notre Dame vs. Purdue

September 25, 1971
Ross-Ade Stadium, West Lafayette, IN
On September 25, 1971 #2 Notre Dame journeyed to West Lafayette to play unranked Purdue. The game was marked by heavy rain and mud and Notre Dame failed to score an offensive touchdown all game. Late in the fourth quarter after a Notre Dame quarterback fumble, Purdue was forced to punt after three and out but fumbled the snap. Notre Dame recovered the ball in the end zone for a touchdown. Trailing 6-7, Ara Parseghian called for a 2 point conversion with the "Genuflect play". Quarterback Pat Steenberge faked a tear sweep and turned his back to the end zone while Mike Creaney faked a block, got to his knee, got up and slipped into the endzone. Steenberge was rushed but managed to lob the ball up to Steenberge who caught it for the 2 point conversion to win the game 8-7.
