January 1, 1969
Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena, CA
Unbeaten Ohio State faced down the unbeaten USC team on New Years Day 1969, and on that day they were clearly the better team. Ohio State forced 5 turnovers including 3 from O.J. Simpson. After a fumble recovery on the 16 yard line in the fourth quarter, Ohio State only needed one play to get their third touchdown on a pass from Rex Kern to Ray Gillian. The touchdown gave the Buckeyes a commanding lead that the Trojans couldn't overcome, and Ohio State claimed its fifth national championship.
