2006 National Championship
The Greatest Game Ever
2 Texas vs. 1 USC
41 - 38
January 4, 2006
Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena, CA
In what has been called the greatest games ever played Texas led by Vince Young beat out USC for the National Championship. USC was leading late in the fourth when Young led Texas down the field for one last attempt at a win. Down by 5 points, a field goal wouldn't help. So on 4th and 5 at the 8, Vince Young took the ball himself and ran in for the touchdown, all but securing Texas the championship with only 19 seconds remaining.

1996 Big 12 Championship
Roll Left
Texas vs. 3 Nebraska
37 - 27
December 7, 1996
Trans World Dome, St. Louis, MO
Texas pulled a huge upset against Nebraska to win the Big 12 Championship in 1996. Up 30 - 27 with 2:28 remaining in the 4th quarter coach John Mackovic made a daring call to pass on 4th and inches. Quarterback James Brown rolled left and found Derek Lewis who then ran the ball down to the 10 yard line and set up the game clinching Texas touchdown.

1977 Red River Rivalry
McEachern rushes for 124yds
5 Texas vs. 2 Oklahoma
13 - 6
October 8, 1977
Texas Memorial Stadium, Dallas, Texas
In the 1977 season Texas would go on to a #1 ranking and a National Championship, but early in the season they still needed to get past Oklahoma who was then ranked #2 in the nation ahead of #5 Texas. In a dramatic Red River Shootout, Texas lost both their first and second string quarterbacks and untested Randy McEachern had to step up. But the real hero of the game was Earl Campbell who rushed for 124 yards and took the handoff from McEachern to rush for 24 yards and the only touchdown of the game.

1969 SWC Regular Season
Game of the Century
1 Texas vs. 2 Arkansas
15 - 14
December 6, 1969
Razorback Stadium, Fayetteville, AK
Now referred to as the Game of the Century, Texas battled back from a 14 point deficit, scoring all 15 of their points in the fourth quarter. The most dramatic play of the game came with just under 5 minutes remaining facing a 4th and 3 coach Darrell Royal called for a "Right 53 Veer Pass," a play not in the Texas game plan. Quarterback James Street executed beautifully getting the ball to Randy Peschel who picked up 44 yds and got Texas in range for the game winning touchdown.
