1998 Super Bowl XXXII
First championship
Denver vs. Green Bay
31 - 24
January 25, 1998
Qualcomm Stadium, San Diego, CA
SuperBowl XXXII is considered one of the biggest upsets of all time. Denver had suffered four previous Super Bowl losses and their fifth attempt was against the defending champs Green Bay, who were favored by double digits. John Elway and Terrell Davis led the team, keeping them neck and neck with Green Bay through the 3rd quarter. With time running out in the 3rd, Denver was pinned on their own 8 yard line. Elway took them 92 yards for the touchdown and the lead. The most memorable play of the drive, and the Super Bowl, was Elway scrambling and diving for a first down, getting hit so hard that his body helicoptered in the air. "The Helicopter" was one of the defining moments of Elway's career. They had one more touchdown in the game and got their first Super Bowl win, becoming only the 2nd wild card team ever to win a Super Bowl.
